My week in retrospect!

This week was a real mixed bag of sorts.  I had some really great highlights and some really big lowlights!

Saturday 17.09.11 - started my day off really well with a wholemeal toast, poached eggs and no butter kind of way, but I was on residence at my Masters class and just sat around all day... and they really feed us up!!  Not great on the activity front! PP: 39 AP:1

Sunday 18.09.11 - Completed the Petone Pelorus Trust half marathon.  But did my worst time ever as my beautiful cousin came with to keep me company and we ended up having such a great catch up - we lost our focus somewhat!  (Tee hee!!!) PP: 48 AP: 17
Lining up at the start line - it was a bit freaky that there was only 50 walkers!  I'm used to really big crowds and knew that I'd definitely be at the back of this pack!

Nearing the halfway point with my gorgeous cousin in the background!

The finish line in sight!  3.45 not my proudest moment :)

Just after we finished- still looking good!

On my way back to Miramar - I spotted this awesome All Blacks sign!!

Rugby World Cup Mania!

Monday 19.09.11 - Drove back from Wellington and called into Porirua for a fabulous Chinese massage.  Also picked up my awesome new running shoes that I won as a spot prize at the Rotovegas Half Marathon back in August!  Score!  I'd been away since Thursday and really missed the kidlets - so I picked my girl up from school and took her swimming - such fun!  PP: 33 AP: 4

Citron de Meringue
Tuesday 20.09.11 - Discovered (Much to my dismay) a really beautiful french patisserie and just about devoured all of my WW points in one meal!  Argh!  Self control completely exited the building!  PP: 35 AP 1

I can't remember the name of this but it was DIVINE!

Wednesday 21.09.11 - a pretty uneventful day but still completely overate eeeeek! PP: 43 AP: 1

Thursday 22.09.11  -  My worst day on the eating front!  I didn't have breakfast, ate waaaaaay too much at lunch and then didn't eat dinner either.  Instead I went to the movies and devoured about 25 PP worth of snacks!  Shocking!  A positive side for the day is that I went for a run and my whanau came with.  PP: 63 AP: 5

Friday 23.09.11 - shared kai at work - and being that I work at a Maori organization that means that every person brings enough food to feed everyone, so we end up with enough food to feed a small country.  I did manage myself well though and although I didn't blow out a bit at lunch time I was aware of it and tried my hardest to make up for it at the end of the day. We all went out again for a walk/run together as a whanau - great stuff.   I was doing okay food-wise but then ate up the kids left overs (mindlessly too I might add) PP: 43 AP: 4

Achievements:
1.  Completing my third half marathon this year
2. Not overeating at night time (instead I've transferred this to lunchtimes - better but still not ideal!)
3. Starting on my running programme
4. Going for a swim with my girl
5.  Tracking every day
6.  Exercising in a big or small way every day this week

Things I need to work on
1. Eating to my PP allowance (not too under and not too over)
2. Instead of having huge feasts at lunchtime, I intend to go for walking (Or running) lunches with my friends instead!
3. Carry on with my good work of not overeating at night time
4. Carry on tracking everything every day

I can and deserve to be a healthy weight!

The way I approach my blog and WW page is just like the way I approach my weight loss - completely INCONSISTENT! I am so energetic and enthused and the writing oozes out of me, the tracking oozes out of me too - but then a few days later - I completely lose my mojo and before I know it, it's been weeks since I've blogged, weeks since I've tracked and weeks since I lost!

I am so stuck it's just not funny! It seems that my weak will continues to get the better of me. Each day I start out staying "It's a new dawn, it's a new day and I'm going to eat good today, I'm going to stay within points today" but for the last year I just haven't been able to kick it!

Sorry people, if you came here to be inspired - you certainly won't get that from me today - I know we should keep things positive on here but I also know we have to keep honest!

So from honest me to honest you - I know what I need to do - I just have to do it!

Wellington Half Marathon 2011

Kia ora everybody

Well this post is beyond late, but like everybody says, it's better late than never!

As most of you who read my blog know I had set a few lofty goals at the beggining of the year around running/walking events and triathlons.

On the 10th of June my good friend Mae and I suffered some kind of loss of logic and common sense and thought that doing a half marathon without any kind of training for the two weeks prior and in freezing cold conditions would be a great idea....

Luckily we made it through to the end. I really enjoyed the sleet and the gail force winds, yeah that was my favourite part. Oh yeah and the bit when we both nearly got lifted off our feet... Awesome - can't wait for next year :)

So here's some photos for you all to enjoy:

Post Holiday Blues!

Kia ora everybody

There's something about holidays and weightloss and me that just don't mix! I seem to always work hard and stay focussed prior to going on holiday but once it's over I just can't seem to get back on the waka!

Last year when I planned to go to San Diego I utilised WW online and lost an amazing 17kg in 8 months! I religiously logged every morsel that went into my mouth, I stayed on target and I exercised every second day without exception.

Then when the big day rolled around I jumped on the plane and enjoyed two weeks of fun and adventures with one of my best friends in San Diego, Tijuana, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. During the holiday I expected to slip and I gave myself permission to do so - I gave myself permission to have a holiday from logging and doing WW.

However, when I returned to NZ I just couldn't get back on board and as a result I gained back around four of the 17 kilos that I had lost pre-holiday.

It wasn't until March this year that I made a concerted effort to do WW again properly and I returned to meetings. Since March I lost 5 kilos.

Every year I go to a new country and this year's country was Samoa. So again I was working towards that goal - everything was really exciting - I love to travel.

However from the moment I left my hometown everything has gone pear shaped - I've been back for the last three weeks and I haven't managed to track for a whole week. I also haven't managed to exercise consistently either! All I really want to do is sit around watching TV with any spare time that I have.

I'm glad that I am finally blogging again - this is a really good sign and I do believe that I will be able to get back on board and start losing some serious weight again soon!

My goal for this year is to weigh 96kg by the the beginning of December.

Currently I am 104kg and Dag Nammit I am gonna do it!!!!

My big goal is 70kg and I plan to be there by the middle of 2012 if not sooner.

So my WW and weight loss friends - I need as much support as I can possibly get because I am my own worst enemy! Help me bust this plateau and yoyo dieting business once and for all!!

Finally I blog!

Argh!  I realised today that I hadn't done a weekly update for last week, and it's nearly the end of this week!  My bad.

Update for week:  Monday 23 May 2011 - Sunday 29th May 2011

Major achievements for the week:
1.  Okay so this is probably why I took so long to post a blog... I don't really believe that I had any major achievements in that week.

Monday 23 May 2011 - PP 32 EP 0
After work I made sure that I sorted myself and my kids (because my partner does volunteer work on a Monday night) so that I could go swimming.  I did 20 minutes of aqua jogging and felt great.

Tuesday 24 May 2011 - PP 43 EP 0
I had a fabulous time at lunchtime Zumba - seriously, if you have never tried Zumba you really need to go and give it a go.  It is so much fun you don't know that you're burning some serious calories.  I love it so much that I went to the evening class too.  Feeling the burn!

Wednesday 25 May 2011 - PP 38 EP 0
Determined to get the most out of my gym/pool membership I got myself and my daughter all organised and into our swimsuits ready to go to the pools.  We went to drop my baby son off at his Nanna's but he was not having a bar of it!  He literally would not let me go!  So I resided myself to the fact that my son needed to be clingy to me that night and that was okay...  It was quite grounding really to just be a mama - I forget sometimes that it is my most important goal in life -To be a good mama!

Thursday 26 May 2011 - PP 65 EP 16
After a mad dash home, I got along to weigh in (stayed the same) 5.30pm and then also managed to make it to my usual Thursday night Zumba class 5.45pm - yus!

Friday 27 May 2011 - PP 95 EP 0
I was pretty full on at work so I didn't get in any exercise.  My whanau and I always celebrate Friday's by having Friday Fun Night - we pretty much eat junk food and watch DVDs.  It was great :)

Saturday 28 May 2011 - PP 42 EP 0
I didn't know until the day that my partner was busy doing heaps of stuff all day long, so I had both of the kids.  My daughter is sweet to come along with me and exercise but my boy is at that age where he is too little to come along, and too big to sit patiently in a stroller while I do my thing.  So basically I didn't get to do anything at all.  We did manage to drive into town to do some errands but I forgot the stroller and it was just crazy!  I chased him around like a mad woman (Incidental exercise)  Then I relaxed and grabbed a coffee and some scrummy food at a fabulous new cafe in town.

Sunday 29 May 2011 - PP 38 EP 8
After analysing my points tracker for the week - I was feeling pretty crapola!  So I posted on my WW page and told my cyber-WW-friends all about it and then went for a bike ride.

I rode over to my brothers house which is about a 15 minute bike ride away.  The tyres on my bike were a bit flat so I got him to show me how to pump them up using the garage pump.  After that we went and got a bike lock from the Warehouse.

I rode my bike home from his house and then we went around and had a great dinner at my mother-in-laws.

Major learnings from the week:

I need to stop eating so much!!!  The main reason for going so far over my target is through lack of planning and personal organisation.  I tend to rush out the door in the morning, drink coffee until lunchtime, eat a reasonably healthy (bought) lunch and then I overeat well into the night.
